A Prom to Remember

For those of you who talk to me, or listen to me often enough, you know that prom is on my mind.
I've been looking at dresses, checking out our prom location... etc, etc.

However, there's a school out there who I believes deserves their prom night SO much more than I do.

Cupertino High School's class of 2010, when they were freshmen, voted to put ALL their fund-raising money (which usually goes to a class' Junior and Senior Prom) into a program called Kenya Dream that helps support underprivileged Kenyan schools to get better supplies and better facilities.

Because of their selflessness, they didn't have a Junior Prom, and would willingly sacrifice their Senior Prom, too.

That's why I'm encouraging you ALL to vote for Cupertino High School in Dell's SUPER PROM!

SuperProm is an event paid for entirely by Dell that allows one school of voter's choosing to have a prom.
A Super Prom.

Most schools on the voting list are asking for the Super Prom because of the recession- and while I feel for them, Cupertino did WAY more than that- they willingly gave away all their money to help a better cause.

All you have to do to help Cupertino win Dell's SuperProm is to register to vote here, with a legitimate email (It's safe- trust me!), and
vote, vote, vote

Don't you think they deserve it?

Petition me to Disney!

Yeah, I know that just a petition wouldn't get me on a Disney show... but what if it could?
Believe me, I have enough willpower that I would MAKE it happen.
And I am so qualified.

First off: I have the perfect coloring for it.
Don't tell me that Disney doesn't typecast- because here are three popular shows where the main character (a girl- hmm.. I have at least that!) has brown eyes and hair. (check and check! Who said drab was out?)

If you are doubting the awesomeness that is Sonny with a Chance, I'll just direct you over to my buddy Lauren. She'll convert you- quick! (Probably my favorite quote- "Do you love me, Sonny? Do you really?")

Yes, Wizards of Waverly Place is amazing- and no matter how much my friends tell me Selena isn't pretty, I know they're just jealous! (and I'll just pretend like I'm not jealous too... because who wants a singing, movie, and TV show career? Pshh.. not me...)

And I know this isn't Disney- don't hurt me! I just had to have something for Calvin and Jake to compare visually. (Carly has brown hair, brown eyes.. etc.)

Secondly: I can act mildly well.
I say it like that, because, well, no offense or anything- one doesn't have to be the cream of the crop to be picked for Disney!
I make funny faces sometimes when I tell stories and get really animated (or so I've been told), I have the valley-girl talk down smack (which is what the main girl uses to imitate the mean girl when she's mad and talking back- or when she's in cute sketches like the Check it Out Girls), and I'm pretty sure I can make the swoony-face that happens at times like these (4:15).

Thirdly: I will not backstab Disney when I turn 18.
Seriously. I have pretty good morals. I am positive that I will not turn into a Lindsay Lohan or a Britney Spears. I won't even get as close as Miley Cyrus (yeah, I said it).

What would you petition for?

SAT Sarcasm

So, I like the SATs just as much as anyone does.
I don't LOVE 'em, I don't HATE 'em, I just kinda deal with them.
Which, I guess, is just what you have to do when it comes to tests that have a determining factor to whether or not you get into college.

But while I was doing my "SAT Question of the Day" today, I seriously started to question my feelings for this test.

Part of the following sentence is underlined; beneath the sentence are five ways of phrasing the underlined material. Select the option that produces the best sentence. If you think the original phrasing produces a better sentence than any of the alternatives, select choice A.

New analyses of a fossil suggest winged insects having possibly emerged as early as 400 million years ago.

Answer Choice

Right! (Applause.)

Um, do you need to do this, College Board? (Do you really?)
Is that supposed to make me feel good about myself?
It feels like you are mocking me- either ditch the "applause" or give it like a man! Not some sissy little (Applause.)

The Cuteness.

My new cousin, Bailey, (just 2 weeks old!) has to be the cutest baby.
She has that baby smell, that baby warmth, and that perfect huggable-ness that makes her like a personal space heater!
(and no, that's not supposed to be a twi-reference!)

I know my face looks awkward in this picture, but she was truly sweet. I think I held her for over an hour- yes, I'm a baby-hog.

I was so happy to snap this of her smiling in her sleep!

Goodness. Babies are adorable.

Love is

... worth fighting for.

... feeling safe in someone's arms.
... all encompassing and without prejudice. Because you don't see the prejudices that other people see when you love someone with all your heart. There isn't room for hate or anger or jealousy when you love with all your heart.
- Samnhal

... valuing someone more than you value yourself.

... everything it's cracked up to be.
- Lauren

... a mystery.

... something we learn more about, every day.
- Linnykins

... the greatest and the worst thing that could ever happen to you.
- Doppelganger

... an adventure.

... letting someone be themselves around you, and knowing you can do the same.

... magic that makes your heart warm and fuzzy.

.... a huge bit of heaven, in this tough, tough world.

... not being able to quit, even though your heart is broken.
- Jocelyn

... believing in each other.

Homemade Donuts.

Okay, I'm just gonna start this out by saying:

I didn't even KNOW people made homemade donuts anymore.

Like, I had heard about it in books written a long time ago,
but nowadays, people just head over to Dunkin' Donuts, or Krispy Kreme, or whatever donut joint they prefer.

Not these guys!
Last night at orchestra, our bassist and bassoonist surprised us all by
baking ONE HUNDRED donuts.

And they were square shaped. How crazy is that??

Dribbling Glasses

I feel bad for Mathew.
He's on a basketball team, and apparently he looks down too often while he's dribbling.....
his coach made him wear these:

You're seeing 'em right.
Big ol' plastic lenses (without prescription, of course) halfway covered with bright yellow duct tape.

Poor, poor Mathew.
He might become the laughing stock of the team if he doesn't get his dribbling act whipped into shape!
(good thing I'm not on his team- I'd probably have to wear them at the games, I'd be so bad at it!)

No wonder he "forgot" to bring them to practice...

The Superbowl is a Time... enjoy.

... for eating massive amounts of food. (If by food, you're thinking cookies, chips, and Persian potato salad, yes. In mass quantities.)

... to finish studying for AP Biology exams. (And then thanking yourself when you [hopefully] ace them the next day.)

... for making obscene faces that you didn't realize were unattractive until you saw them in your camera's viewer.

... for lazing around. Because it's fun and a Sunday and no one cares.

... to discover the amazingness that is Haagan-Dazs baby cartons of coffee ice cream. So you don't have to feel like a pig for eating it clean!

... to truly appreciate the genius of the Rubix Cube. And then beat it and laugh that you have greater brainpower than an inanimate object.

... to appreciate friends.
(And rooting for the winning team.

You Know You're Jealous

I am positive there are some of you readers who love The Office (even though I know there are also a few Office haters...*cough* Jake and Calvin *cough*) -
so I can at least have SOMEONE who will appreciate this:

That's right.

The Office mechanical pencils.

I'm pretty sure you're jealous now.
I mean, I'm jealous just looking at them- and I own them! (just kidding...)

I'm pretty much in love with these beauties.
It doesn't matter that they'll probably break within 2 hours of me using them.
Or that they only have the faces of Micheal, Dwight, and Pam- and not Jim. (Seriously- who designed these? Do they not know that John Krasinski's smirk-y face sells?)
Or that they were on sale so practically everyone owns them.

They're beautiful.

Bike-ur Helmet!

Since my last hilarity with Darian and the "caterpill-ur" story, nothing much has happened...
until now.

I know this picture doesn't look like much, but if you look closely- you'll notice that Darian is wearing a bag under his beat-up and dirty helmet.

Me: Darian, are you FINALLY ready to bike?
D: Yes.
Me: You sure? You don't have to go to your locker? To the bathroom?
D: YES, Allison.
Me: Okay. Finally.
D: Geez, what am I, five? I don't take that long.
Me: Whatever you say, Darian.
D: (across the bike racks) Um.. Allison?
Me: Yes, Darian?
D: I sorta kinda forgot my helmet...
Me: Where? In Karina's car?
D: .... at home....
Me: Oh my goodness, Darian. You know you can't bike without a helmet on.
D: I know- I totally thought I had it!
Me: Okay, well, I really want you to bike with me.
D: What does that mean?
Me: It means that we're gonna find you a helmet to wear! Ughh.. can't you just BUY one?
D: Yes, I'll just stop at our school's bike shop-
Me: Dude. We should have one. OH MY GOODNESS. Okay, don't tell anyone about this.
We're gonna look for a helmet.
D: (pointing to a helmet on someone's bike) How about this one?
Me: Darian, don't be dumb. We can't just STEAL someone's helmet right off their bike! We have to look for one on the ground!
D: Um...
Me: (pointing to an abandoned corner of the bike rack) THERE! (picks up the ugliest helmet known to man- seriously- covered in dirt and cracked)
D: Ew, I don't want to wear it!
Me: Well, get over it, buddy! You need to bike home, and you need a helmet to do it! And I refuse to steal one off someone's bike.
Anne: (walking over to Darian and me) Whatcha guys doing?
Me: (dying of laughter) Oh, Darian's gonna put on that helmet...
Anne: EW! He's gonna get lice or something! Here- (pulling a bag out of her backpack) take this!
Me: Yup, just stick it over your head and put the helmet on top of it!
Anne: Oh, and by the way- my butt's been on that bag- I sit on it when it's raining!
Me: (laughter) Oh- My- Goodness...

----flashback ends----

So.. there. Darian is wearing Anne's butt bag on his head, and a dirty "borrowed" helmet on top of that (I made him promise to return it to its corner tomorrow).

Oh, and his mom made him wash his hair for lice after he got home. Lucky guy.
